Faces & Names: ‘The Wire’ star Glover stabbed at D.C. nightclub
Actor Anwan Glover, who appeared in the film “12 Years a Slave” and the TV series “The Wire,” was stabbed and beaten at a D.C. nightclub early Sunday morning.
Glover told police that he was on the second floor of the restaurant Cafe Asia when an unknown person punched him. He turned to face his assailant, and another person hit him on the back of the head, causing him to slip on the wet floor, he told police. Glover said that after he had been kicked multiple times, he heard a voice shout, “He has a knife,” and felt a sharp pain in his right side.
Officer Paul Metcalf, a D.C. police spokesman, confirmed the attack. He said the victim was treated for a laceration on the right side of his torso at George Washington University Hospital. There was no update on his condition Sunday morning.
Glover, 41, most recently appeared in the Oscar-winning movie “12 Years a Slave. “ He played tough guy Slim Charles in “The Wire.”
