Ellen Davis, 62, of Mahtowa passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014 after a short, but difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family: husband, Dan Davis; son, Paul Shryer; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Immanuel Weise; granddaughter, Adriana Weise; and sisters-in-law, Darlene (Arnie) Lofgren, Denise (Scott) Couillard, and Donna, Cody and Breanna Hattenberger.
Ellen was a creative and artistic woman who enjoyed her life on the Davis family dairy farm. She spent many days gardening and hosted a yearly pumpkin party in the fall. She knitted afghans from patterns she created herself and painted landscapes of places she had seen. She had a passion for researching her family history and wrote a book on her findings. Ellen was most happy hosting family and friends. She especially liked sharing her time and gifts with her granddaughter, nieces, and nephews, and later with their children.
Ellen was preceded in death by her mother, Albena Hattenberger; and niece, Mandy Lofgren.
In addition to the family that was with her when she passed away, Ellen is survived by her father, Lee Hattenberger; brothers and their families, Ed (Mary), Joe (Brenda), Bob, Jim (Betsy), John, Mike (Jane), and Greg (Becky); the Davis brothers-in law and their families, Dale (Deb), Darryl (Bruce), Darwin (Del), and Dwayne (Stana). Ellen also has many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
