ELIZABETH CAROLYN DRANG

Elizabeth Carolyn Drang, 102 of Wright, Minn., passed away on Aug. 15, 2014.

She was born to the late Andrew and Marion Maruski on June 29, 1912 in Illinois. At four months of age, her family relocated to Wright, Minn., where they lived on a farm.

Elizabeth attended Cromwell High School for two years, then moved to Chicago, where she spent her early adult years. During World War II, Elizabeth supported the war effort as a "Rosie the Riveter" in the Pullman Aircraft Defense plant. She married Walter Drang in 1944, who served in the army in World War II and received a Purple Heart for injuries obtained fighting in the South Pacific. In 1975, Elizabeth moved back to Wright, Minn., with Walter until his passing in 1977.

Elizabeth was active in the local community as a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling across the United States as well as Canada and the Hawaiian Islands.

Elizabeth enjoyed a long and prosperous life and put her family as a high priority in her life. She touched many people and will be missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son Walter Jr.; parents; siblings Ann, Mary, Andrew and George.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Dorothy (John) Duran of Fogelsville, Penn.; grandchildren Carolyn (Terry Franks) Duran of Portland, Ore., and Brian (Catherine) Duran of Boston, Mass.; five great-grandchildren Solomon, Atticus, Samuel, Mikaela, and Jacob; also her niece DuRaine (Tracy) Egan of Proctor, Minn., who was an immense help to Elizabeth in her final years.

GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014 until the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 5944 Highway 210, Cromwell, Minn.
