Eh? Who smelt it?
In recent years, smelt season has come to mean far more than a fishy feast for those with a sort of … special palate. It’s also time to begin prepping for Run, Smelt, Run, the annual parade and party organized by Magic Smelt Puppet Troupe.
Once again, the troupe is hosting free kid-friendly parade workshops where foil, papier-mache and sticks become smelt-themed decorations for the big event.
Drop in at the shop at 134 W. First St.:
* 10 a.m. to noon and 2-4 p.m. Saturday and April 26
* 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and April 24
The Smelt Run Puppet Parade and Smelt Fry starts at 2 p.m. April 27 by the Maritime Visitors’ Center in Canal Park. The parade will include the Brass Messengers, King Neptune and smelt dignitaries. The royal procession follows the Lakewalk to Zeitgeist Arts Cafe for a smelt fry.
