Eh? Make you a star

It’s not too late to get up on the silver screen. Or, at least a DVD. At the very least, YouTube.

Regardless, there’s an open casting call for “Sdanka’s War” that’s being filmed on the Iron Range.

The casting call is for extras. The director needs about 20 or more men dressed in plain T-shirts, khaki or brown pants or plain jeans, with combat boots or work boots. The director is also asking for four to five “young ladies” in simple summer dresses.

Interested aspiring thespians are instructed to rally at the Soudan Underground Mine State Park, 1379 Stuntz Bay Road in Soudan at 7 a.m. Saturday.

On July 31 and Aug. 1, filming will continue at noon at the Pyhala Homestead, 4745 Salo Road, Embarrass. For these shoots, the statement from the production company — LZ Productions and Almighty Dog Entertainment — says they need “bad guys” along with “families” (older men and women and children) dressed in simple, old-style clothing: think poor, Eastern European village folk.

Sdanka’s War is an action film set in Eastern Europe, inspired by real events of human trafficking. A highly skilled sniper, a small band of government mercenaries and a bunch of bad guys pack the film with tank chases, arms depots and cars exploding and gunfights.
