Eh? Bayfront isn’t the only place for music
Don’t say the youth of the Northland are up to no good.
Each Wednesday this summer at the Carlton County fairgrounds in Barnum, volunteer musical acts will take the stage to stir the open air of the “Gateway to the Northwoods.”
The concerts will run from 6:30-8 p.m. through the summer.
And what about those “youths of the Northland?” The whole concert series is a result of some of those very same young community members who participated in flood relief efforts in 2012 and did not want the sense of community that was built that summer to end.
To build on the bonds of community that were forged battling the floodwaters, the Barnum-area youth groups applied for a youth in philanthropy grant that allowed them to purchase sound equipment and cover the startup costs for the free music event.
The event is free and open to the public. There also will be information about the ongoing flood relief efforts.
