Early morning chase ends in arrest of Meadowlands man
A 54-year-old Meadowlands man was arrested early this morning after leading deputies on a pursuit northwest of Duluth, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
The chase started after the Holiday Station in Pike Lake reported the car driving off without paying for gas. A deputy attempted to stop the car in the Independence Township area when the driver fled, the sheriff’s office said.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of County Road 7 and Swan Lake Road, where deputies were able to force the car off the road and arrest the driver.
The suspect’s car was reported stolen from Superior on Aug. 10, the sheriff’s office said. The license plates on the car were apparently stolen from a similar car overnight in Duluth.
The driver was booked into the St. Louis County Jail, where he awaits formal charges.
