Prosecutors will not file charges in overdose death of musician Prince




Duane "Bud" Udesen, 87, of Duluth, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, in Duluth. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to many neighborhood children on his custom sliding hill.

He was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Laurens, Iowa to Martin and Grace Udesen.

He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 and was honorably discharged from the Air Corps with the rank of First Lieutenant.

He moved to Duluth in 1946, and worked as an office machine serviceman with the NCR Company, Anderson Tile and Carpet and as a Maintenance Supervisor with WLSSD. He met his lovely wife Helen Berg while roller skating at the Duluth Curling Club. Bud loved grooming his large yard, roller skating, bicycling, cross-country skiing and hunting and fishing with his brother Harold. He also enjoyed the company of his special friend Donna Kwapik. He loved to engineer and design functional and new products and held two patents.

Preceding his death was his wife Helen of 38 years and his son Gary.

Bud is survived by his sons Larry (LeAnn) and Tim (Amanda); grandchildren, Grete (Nathan) Flanagan, Brett, Zachary, Soren (Janell), Annika and Jessica (John Jr.) Burger; great-grandchildren, John III and Jocelynn.

VISITATION: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service on Thursday, May 15, 2014 in Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth. A luncheon will follow the service.
