Donna Louise (Howard) Kilpo, 57 of Duluth, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2014 after fighting a long courageous battle with Huntington's Disease. She was surrounded by her family.

She was born in Grosse Point Farms, Mich., on April 27, 1957 to Ervin and Nancy Howard.

She moved to Duluth in 1974 while she was in High School. It was there where she met and eventually married her husband of 34 years, Lawrence D. Kilpo

Donna graduated from Duluth East High School in 1975, and continued her education at Duluth Area Vocational Institute earning an LPN degree in 1977.

She started her career at St. Luke's Hospital in 1977 and then moved to the Duluth Clinic (Essentia) in 1980. She retired in 2002. She met many new friends, many of which have remained close until the day she passed.

The family thanks these women and their loyalty during the last few years of her life.

Donna was also active in her church (Concordia Lutheran). She taught Sunday School and Confirmation and belonged to the women's church group.

Donna will be remembered for her capacity to give to others, her room brightening smile and upbeat attitude. People loved to be around her and she was happiest when she was making others happy. She enjoyed entertaining and was the consummate hostess.

Donna was preceded in death by her father Ervin Howard; bother Glenn Howard, and her sister Debra (Howard) Fiege.

Donna is survived by her husband, Lawrence Kilpo of Duluth; her son Eric (fianc Kristen Smith) Kilpo of Duluth; her daughter Kelsey (significant other, Forrest Vodden) Kilpo of Duluth; mother Nancy Howard of Shorewood, Ill., and her brother Robert Howard of St. Louis, Mo.

Her family would like to thank the wonderful care givers at Interim Home Care and Benedictine Health Center who helped to make her last five years with us much more pleasurable. Also, St, Lukes Hospice and Internal Medicine and Essentia Neurology for providing for and creating a better life for her.

GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 in Concordia Lutheran Church, 2501 Woodland Ave. Inurnment will be at Park Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America. (HDSA) In addition, there will be a donation box at the service. Arrangements entrusted to the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 218-624-5200.
