News Tribune, April 29, 1974 * A group of Morgan Park High School students is helping the city of Duluth in cleaning up Chambers Grove Park, which was damaged by vandalism last winter. The students are raising money to replace broken windows and repair other damage.
* Thirty-six members of the Duluth Accordionaires and their chaperones leave Duluth this morning to begin a three-week goodwill tour of Yugoslavia, Russia and Denmark. The group has previously made other trips to Europe but this is their first to Russia.
News Tribune, April 29, 1994 * Duluth’s older high-rise buildings would have to be retrofitted with sprinkler systems under legislation passed by the Minnesota Senate yesterday. The bill requires Minnesota buildings taller than 75 feet to be fitted with fire sprinklers within the next 15 years.
* Replicas of the British Crown Jewels will be on exhibit in the Duluth Depot’s Great Hall beginning next week and through June 30. More than 50 pieces, made with gold plate and precious and semi-precious stones, make up the touring collection.
