News Tribune, July 3, 1974 * The Spirit Mountain Recreation Area board is seeking names to apply to the 11 ski runs under construction at the West Duluth site. Names must be chosen by this summer for publicity materials.
* The Duluth City Council yesterday opened the way for a $1 million, three-building apartment complex in the Glen Place urban renewal district. The complex will be built near the Point of Rocks between Eighth and 14th avenues west.
News Tribune, July 3, 1994 * Blandin Paper Co. officials said yesterday the Grand Rapids firm plans to cut about 220 of its 1,100 jobs over the next two years. The company also plans to produce a new kind of paper.
* Dan Litchfield and Steve Park, both of Ely, last week covered the historic Hunter’s Island canoe route in a record time of 28 hours, 49 minutes and 7 seconds. The 145-mile route goes through Quetico Provincial Park and the BWCA.
