  • Carlton resident Walter Radzak is building his own nine-hole golf course on his land along Highway 61. Radzak, who calls the course Pine Hill Golf Club, began working on the project last year and hopes to open the course for play in July.

    • The United Steelworkers of America will vote tomorrow on a strike-authorization measure if a new contract agreement with LTV Corp. isn’t reached. The union represents LTV workers nationwide, including 1,200 workers at the company’s taconite mine in Hoyt Lakes.
    • The Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum in Duluth will hold its grand opening tomorrow. The event will feature some rare documents that can only be seen that day, including the Emancipation Proclamation signed by Abraham Lincoln and the original Thanksgiving Proclamation signed by George Washington.
