* Rep. John Blatnik, who is retiring, said yesterday he will support James Oberstar to replace him as Minnesota’s 8th District congressman. Delegates to the recent 8th District DFL convention endorsed State Sen. A.J. “Tony” Perpich over Oberstar on the 30th ballot.

* The best memories of Park Point will be relived next month at the first All Park Point Reunion. Nearly 800 invitations have been mailed to Park Pointers past and present for the event set for the weekend of Aug. 10-11.

* The Soo Line Railroad was trying to keep some trains running yesterday after a strike by 1,500 yard workers, conductors and brakemen. Soo Line’s normal two trains a day to the Twin Ports have been canceled.

* Jeff Greenwald, who hit three pinch-hit home runs for the Philadelphia Phillies in 1992, signed with the Duluth-Superior Dukes yesterday. Greenwald had 65 at-bats and hit .200 for the Phillies in 1992, his only major league season.
