  • Three of seven planned ski runs, ranging from easy to very difficult, at the Spirit Mountain recreation complex in Duluth should be completed in time for use this winter. Negotiations continue over construction of a 100- to 150-room motel at the site.
  • Establishment of a dinner theater at Hotel Duluth, similar to ones in the Twin Cities and other major cities, was announced yesterday by hotel management. Alfred Nott, an actor and director, has been appointed managing artistic director of the theater.

    • An F-117 Stealth fighter, once shrouded in secrecy, will make its first appearance in Minnesota at this weekend’s Duluth Aviation Expo. Duluth is one of only a handful of air shows that will feature the Stealth fighter this year.
    • A record-setting crowd is expected this weekend to see Duluth’s Viking ship christened at the eighth annual Viking Festival. This year’s event returns to Leif Erikson Park after being held for two years at Bayfront Festival Park.
