Business conference set for Friday in Ashland
The annual Lake Superior Business & Technology conference will be held Friday at the Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College campus in Ashland.
The conference — geared to entrepreneurs, investors, economic development partners and community and business leaders — will focus on achieving regional economic development through innovation, business retention and expansion. It will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
It is presented by the Lake Superior Chapter of the Wisconsin Innovation Network with support from the city of Ashland, the Ashland school district and the Wisconsin Technology Council.
Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch will address the conference. Presenters will include Bob Davies, University of Wisconsin-Stout professor and national business consultant; Doug Moquin, retired vice president of Phillips Plastics Corp.; Jim Hagstrom, entrepreneur and developer with Blue Wave on the Bay; and Randy Hulke, director of UW-Stout Discovery Center.
Presentations by the finalists in the 2014 Business Idea Contest will follow in the afternoon with feedback from a panel of experts. Attendees will be able to vote for their favorite idea. Finalists are competing for $6,500 in prize money.
