Bridge work to close Interstate 35 lane near Scanlon
Traffic on northbound Interstate 35 at the St. Louis River bridge in Scanlon will be reduced to a single lane starting Sunday, and lasting for about three weeks.
The lane closure is necessary as work continues on a bridge painting and rehabilitation project, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported. The lane will remain closed until about June 19.
Drivers may also encounter temporary lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-35 at the County Road 13 bridge near Barnum, when work is required over the traffic lanes.
The work is part of a $3.2 million rehabilitation project covering several bridges.
Highway 33 work in Cloquet
A major pavement replacement and intersection improvement project will begin Monday on Minnesota Highway 33 in Cloquet.
The $6.2 million project includes the replacement of pavement on Highway 33 from Interstate 35 to Big Lake Road, as well as safety and accessibility improvements.
Drivers will encounter occasional single-lane traffic — and possibly some complete closures — as new traffic signals and overhead cables are installed, MnDOT reported. Utility companies also will be doing some relocation work in the area.
The work is slated to continue through October.
