Body found identified as that of missing Duluth woman
Duluth police have identified the body found Tuesday afternoon in the city's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
On Wednesday, police said preliminary evidence lead them to believe the body is 74-year-old Dale Elizabeth Gerard. She went missing on July 20th; however, police are waiting for final confirmation from the County Medical Examiner’s Office which they are expecting to receive in the next two to three days.
Officers got a call at 2:04 p.m. on Tuesday about a dead human body. A witness saw a decomposing body 100 yards north of the intersection of 19th Avenue West and Second Street along a fence and brush line.
It could take several weeks for the medical examiner to figure out the manner and cause of death.
This case is still under investigation. Officers say there is no further information at this time.
