Beverly M. Halvorson, 89, formerly residing at Mount Royal Pines III, passed away peacefully Monday, March 17, 2014 at Viewcrest Health Care Center.

She was born March 5, 1925 to Esther (Anderson) and Martin Halvorson in Duluth.

She graduated from Central High School in 1943, attended Duluth Jr. College, and graduated from the Univ. of Minnesota, School of Business Administration in l948. She was employed by Thorp Brothers, Minneapolis for 25 years in mortgage banking and real estate. She moved to Voyager Village, Wis., and started a sewing and yarn business in Turtle Lake. Beverly returned to Duluth where she was employed by St. Louis County Federal Savings and Loan Assn. for 15 years until retiring in 1990. After retiring she volunteered as a tax preparer through the AARP until 2000.

Beverly was a long-time member of Zion Lutheran Church and served as Treasurer of the Memorial Fund for many years. Her memory for figures and dates was astounding and served her well all her professional and personal life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas, in 1961 in a drowning accident. A cousin, Alvira Wilson, Waterloo, Iowa died June 2, 2014.

Beverly is survived by cousins: Merle Anderson (Marie) Edina Minn., Marvel Halvorson, Waterloo, Iowa, Peggy Lee (Marvin) St. Paul, Janet Huston (Richard), and Linda Reno (Dale), of Hermantown, Dennis Anderson "Skip" (Terry), Duluth, Robert Anderson, Chisago City, Minn., Susan Rubendall (Ben) and Pamela Hillenbrand (Robert) both of Rockford, Ill.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26 in Zion Lutheran Church, 2431 West Third St., Duluth, with Pastor John Reppe officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Zion Lutheran Church, Duluth, or Lighthouse for the Blind, Duluth would be preferred.
