Best Bets: Jeff Daniels performs at the Big Top

Jeff Daniels addressed the “Dumb and Dumber” fans right away when he played a show at Sacred Heart Music Center in 2010:

“There are some of you who think of it as your ‘Citizen Kane,’” he said, then invited the cackling audience to take a cellphone photo right at that moment.” Let’s get that (stuff) out of the way.”

Daniels, who is probably better known for his work as an actor — HBO’s “The Newsroom,” the sequel to the aforementioned “Citizen Kane”-ian piece “Dumb and Dumber To,” and lots, lots more — than for his work on the guitar. But Daniels has about 400 songs in his cache and has been playing gigs around the country for more than a decade.

Expect a few fun anecdotes from the funny man.

As for the Ben Daniels of the titular band — he’s Jeff Daniels’ son.
