Best Bets: James Harper art exhibition opens at Pizza Luce
The album art for Charlie Parr’s “Barnswallow” features a black bird in flight against a shades-of-red backdrop with thin lines and drops of black, blue, yellow, orange and even more red.
The image was made by Jamie Harper, a Winona, Minn.-based artist whose work is done with reclaimed latex house paint on salvaged hollow-core doors.
His paint comes from a Hazardous Waste Exchange program and the Winona Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, where the doors come from as well.
Harper is relatively new to painting and came to it five years ago as a teacher getting students involved with an Earth Day Project. Many of the pieces in this art show were inspired by the North Shore, he said in an email.
