It’s not just for the likes of Pink Floyd anymore. Cars & Trucks will play an improvisational instrumental show at midnight Saturday at the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

It’s being billed as their weirdest show yet.

The threesome of Tony Bennett, who reviews music for the News Tribune, Mat Milkinkovich and Matt Osterlund described it like this: “If you’ve ever said, ‘I like that band, but I wish they’d play a show where there’s no singing, and I get to fly through space, look at crazy lights and get hit with smoke and lasers while they play,’ you’ve got your wish.”

The pop-ish rock band released “Theatre Stardusk” last year. Expect to hear none of it during this show.
