Authorities searching for suspects in armed robbery of NW Wisconsin bank
Authorities in Sawyer and Washburn counties are searching for two suspects in the armed robbery of a bank in Stone Lake on Friday afternoon.
The Sawyer County Sheriff's Office reported that they received a hold-up alarm from the Shell Lake State Bank branch at about 2:50 p.m. Bank employees told deputies that they had been robbed by two armed males wearing ski masks and dark clothing, who left the scene in a white Chevrolet Cavalier headed in the direction of Spooner.
Stone Lake sits on the Sawyer-Washburn county line. Authorities from both counties responded and located the suspect vehicle - but not the suspects - a few miles from the bank. An undisclosed amount of money was taken in the robbery; no one in the bank was injured.
No further description of the suspects was released by authorities as of Saturday morning. The FBI is assisting local authorities with the investigation; anyone with information on the case is asked to contact the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office.
