ANNA MAY PIERRE

Anna May Pierre, 82, of Esko, died unexpectedly April 18, 2014, in her home.

Anna was born in 1932 in Money Creek, Minn., the daughter of Vernon and Alta May Mann. She was a 1950 graduate of the Houston (Minn.) High School and graduated from Winona State University in 1952 with a degree in elementary education. She married James Pierre June 6, 1953.

Anna taught second grade for several years, then worked at Maple Manor in Bloomington, Minn., and at Nopeming Nursing Home. Jim and Anna raised their family in Bloomington and then moved to Esko in 1978. Anna loved being a mom. Through the years, Anna enjoyed crocheting, gardening, cooking and watching the food network, doing cross word puzzles and building puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Eric Pierre; sister Margie Sorenson; and her parents.

Anna is survived by her children, Anita (Mark) Kelly of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Rollie (Chrissy) of Wyoming, Minn., Bob (Tammy) of Farmington, Minn., Laura (Dave) Dahl of Duluth, Roger (Karen) of Esko and Joan (Tom) Pierre of Moorehaven, Fla.; brother Daniel of Rushford, Minn.; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

VISITATION: 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, April 22, in Northwood United Methodist Church, 62 W. Highway 61 in Esko. Burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
