Secret to staying married: Though our childhoods were mostly opposite, Christ became our most trusted common denominator. Married at 19, we always have, and still do, enjoy talking to each other the most. We learned that in conflict, silence is not golden. Marriage, on-going romance and shared goals are worth fighting for.

Paul and Jennie Larson

Paul and Jennie Larson of Superior celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a surprise party hosted by their children in an outdoor pavilion at Billings Park.

Paul and the former Jennie Wicklund were married June 17, 1989, in Central Assembly of God in Superior.

Their children are Hanna and Daniel Rose and Andrew Larson, all of Superior.

Paul is an operating engineer for Hoover Construction in Virginia. Jennie serves as an in-home caregiver for patients living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Secret to staying married: As a couple, we strive to live by 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: "Be joyful always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus," and, through life's ups and downs, our motto has become, "It's always an adventure!"

Daniel and Hanna Rose

Daniel and Hanna Rose of Superior celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Daniel and the former Hanna Larson were married Aug. 4, 2013, in Bayside Baptist Church in Superior.

Daniel is a pipefitter's apprentice for Plumbers and Pipefitter's Union Local 11 in Duluth. Hanna is a personal care worker at Cedar Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care in Superior.

Secret to staying married: Our secret for making it a year will likely be the same secret we share after five, 10 or 50 years together -- a common foundation in Jesus Christ. Empathy, honesty, forgiveness, and a lot of humor are His gifts that continue to strengthen our love and friendship.
