Janet "Mrs. Pete" Falconer Petersen

Janet "Mrs. Pete" Falconer Petersen will celebrate her 100th birthday with an open house from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 24, in Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Duluth.

Janet was born May 29, 1914, in Duluth, to Janet and Jim Falconer. She grew up in Lakeside and attended Duluth State Teachers College, now known as the University of Minnesota Duluth. Janet married Arthur Petersen Dec. 27, 1941, in Lakeside Presbyterian Church and they lived in their new home in Lakeside.

Mrs. Pete taught physical education in Duluth, was a cheerleader and power club advisor at Duluth Denfeld High School and is a member of Denfeld's Hall of Fame.

Her daughters are Janet and Mike Murry of Hayward; Jean and Tim McCall of Duluth; and Kathy and Steve Johnson of Two Harbors. She has six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, with a 13th on the way.
