The owners of Epic Restaurant and Lounge in Superior announced Monday that the restaurant is closing at the end of the year.

"We have been blessed in our business with good times, good friends and good food. Unfortunately, for both business and personal reasons we find that we need to close our doors," read a statement posted to the restaurant's Facebook page.

Epic, located at 3223 Tower Ave., will close to regular business at the end of its regular hours on Saturday, the statement said. There will be one last gala event on New Year's Eve before the restaurant closes for good.

“We will miss all of your smiling faces and hope to see you around real soon,” the statement said.

Epic opened in May 2016 after extensive renovations to the building that had previously housed Joe's Pagoda, Hunan Gardens and Cronstrom's Supper Club.

Soon before opening, the owners of the restaurant said it would employ about 50 people and tap into locally sourced food such as Bay Produce tomatoes, farmers markets and local fish providers to fill the menu. The restaurant also offered a banquet facility and conference space.
