Workshop on construction jobs set for Wednesday in Duluth

The major development projects under construction in Duluth or getting underway are creating a bonanza of construction trades jobs.

But more workers are needed to fill those jobs.

To help, several organizations are teaming up to get the word out about the jobs available and the apprenticeship and other training programs available.

A special workshop will be held Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Community Action Duluth building, 2424 W. Fifth St. On hand will be representatives from various unions, including carpenters, sheet metal, roofers, bricklayers, painters, iron workers and laborers.

Prospective workers with diverse backgrounds and experiences are being sought. Women, Native Americans and people of color are especially encouraged to attend.
