Home show opens Wednesday at DECC

The 48th annual Arrowhead Home & Builders Show will be Wednesday through Sunday at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.

The home show features products and services for most home improvement projects, a large modular home and a fully furnished log house, as well as the latest gadgets, how-to seminars and daily stage shows.

For consumers, it’s a great place to get ideas and to shop for contractors.

For contractors and others in the home improvement industry, it’s a way to get job leads.

Economy Garages has done the Duluth home show each of the company’s 38 years in business in Hermantown.

“The home show is an institution for northern Minnesota,” said sales manager Dave Michelson. “It’s an opportunity for people to get to know you. It’s a no-pressure way for customers to talk to us and others, learn about our business and what we do. If they’re not looking at doing something now, they could become a customer in the future.”

Jim Perrault Construction also is a regular.

“I skipped a few years, just to see what happens,” Perrault said. “People wonder if you’re still in business if you’re not there.”

This year’s show, with 400 exhibits extending throughout much of the DECC complex, will be open 5-10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $9 for adults, $6 for students ages 6 to 17 and free for children age 5 and younger.
