TKDA names mining market manager

DULUTH, Minn. - Brian "Bud" Mickelson, PE, has been promoted to mining market manager at TKDA, an employee-owned provider of engineering, architecture and planning services. He replaces Jeff Lipovetz, who is now vice president of TKDAs Facilities Engineering Division.

Mickelson, who works in TKDAs Duluth office, has 12 years of experience in the design and management of industrial, rail and government projects in Minnesota, with a focus on electrical power, lighting, signal, control and instrumentation systems. Many of these projects have involved infrastructure upgrades for mining process additions, including the construction, start-up and commissioning of their associated operating and electrical systems.

Mickelson, a native of Cherry, Minnesota, holds a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of North Dakota and is pursuing a Master of Science in engineering management from the University of Minnesota.

"Bud has a deep understanding of the mining industry and he works extremely well with our clients," said Lipovetz. "He understands their needs, their processes, and he delivers exceptional client service. We are happy to have him step up and lead our growing mining team at TKDA."
