• Don Wallgren has been named office managing partner for RSM US LLP's Duluth office as of Oct. 1. Wallgren succeeds Jim Spreitzer, who served as office managing partner since 2008 and plans to retire from the firm on April 30. Wallgren has been with RSM for more than 30 years in the tax line of business, focusing on tax issues and planning opportunities for closely held businesses and their owners. He has led the tax practice in Duluth for the past 10 years.

• LHB, Inc. is pleased to announce the following employee recognitions and new employees to their Duluth office:

Nathan Potratz has been chosen to participate in the 2018 American Institute of Architects' Minnesota Leadership Forum. The forum consists of six sessions where experts address leadership styles, personality type, communication, motivation, trends and application of style and skills. With over 10 years of experience, Potratz, a licensed architect in Minnesota and Wisconsin, brings a range of healthcare specific design expertise to LHB's Healthcare Group.

Susan Anderson joins the Duluth office as a records management specialist. Susan has more than 30 years of records management and documentation experience.

Shane Sundberg joins the Duluth office as an intern in the Pipeline Group. He is pursuing a bachelor of science in electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He is a licensed journeyman electrician in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Washington.

• The Iron Mining Association of Minnesota promoted Katy Lofquist from media manager to director of operations. Lofquist has worked for the IMA — the only trade association that represents Minnesota's iron mines and the companies that supply goods and services to the iron mines — since 2011, when she was hired as an administrative assistant. Before joining the IMA staff, Lofquist worked as a reporter for the Hibbing Daily Tribune. She graduated from Concordia College Moorhead in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in English with a focus on print journalism.


• The Firelight Inn on Oregon Creek Bed and Breakfast, 2211 E. Third St., is celebrating 20 years of business in 2018. The home of George G. Barnum, built in 1910, was opened as a B&B on June 18, 1998. The inn has five suites and has greeted nearly 20,000 guests from nearly all 50 states and 13 countries.
