Farmers market starts in West Duluth

Duluth’s East Hillside has one. So does downtown Duluth. Even the University of Minnesota Duluth has one.

Now, West Duluth has its own farmers market, offering fresh, local produce and locally produced foods.

The market, which started in late July, is held on Thursdays from 3-6 p.m. at Grand Avenue and 45th Avenue West. It’s on the lot where the former Westminster Presbyterian Church stood, between Dairy Queen and Walgreens.

The market features six to 10 area growers and producers, with farmers market veteran Doug Hoffbauer one of the organizers.

“It’s important for the producers to have venues for selling their produce as well as filling a need within the community for farm-fresh local produce,” said Charlie Stauduhar of the West Duluth Business Club.

The weekly West Duluth Farmers Market will continue into October.
