It’s been more than a week since the thunderstorm storm ripped through the area, taking down many mature trees with its high winds. Now is the time to start planning for the craters left behind from uprooted trees. One recommendation is to plant smaller trees or shrubs — like maples, lilacs and arborvitae  — to keep them from growing tall enough to get tangled in power lines or from blowing over in strong winds. At least three kittens have been found in the middle of the Blatnik Bridge over the past two months. Two of them had the same injury to their front leg that required amputation.
